D'oh!

Forgot one.... probably because it is so much a part of our vocabulary that we forget it comes from a movie.

Now, I'm no fan of Jim Carrey, but I do crack up every time I see that scene in The Cable Guy where he's pretending to walk away from Matthew Broderick's door, making his footsteps fainter and going "Seeya.... Bye...." in gradually quieter tones to make it sound like he's gone. Sad as it is, that's what we do. Going to work. Leaving the room. Leaving the couch to go over to the kitchen. "Ok, seeya....bye" And it's never funnier than when we do the same dwindling volume thing.

That and, every time our birthdays come round (once a year each! fancy that), we do the old Manuel from Fawlty Towers thing - when he's trying to read out his carefully written speech to Basil, who keeps ignoring him and slamming doors in his face. There's Manuel throughout the entire episode, starting his heartfelt thank you... "'eez my birzday. Seence coming here from Spain, leaving my mother, my 5 aunties, my 4 brothers..." Every birthday without fail, it's the first thing one of us says to the other. "'eez your birzday"

My mind must be reeeeally small, cos they do say small things amuse the smallest minds.
